Fatal Bakersfield Rollover Accident Kills Young Woman
Bakersfield news reports that a horrific single car crash has claimed the life of a young woman. According to reports, the man was killed following a head-on collision. The Bakersfield Police Department stated that the car, a red Mercedes Benz, rolled over approximately 150 yards west of Old River Road. The car crashed into a block wall two or more times before breaking apart. The female passenger, Iman Amin, died at the scene. The driver, Cesar Duarte of Bakersfield suffered minor personal injuries in the crash.
If you or a loved one has been involved in a serious personal injury, it is a good idea to consult with a Sacramento personal injury attorney right away who can begin an investigation into all of the factors that may have lead to a particular crash. In many situations, an in-depth look into an accident reveals additional causes that may not be apparent at first.
Here, further investigation into this crash reveals that the driver of the Mercedes was in a speed contest with a White Lexus SUV when he lost control of the car, struck a block wall and light pole, which then caused the rollover accident. The Mercedes was travelling more than 80 MPH. It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
While recklessness of the driver will be one factor evaluated in this accident, other factors such as defective vehicle parts or roadway negligence must be evaluated. Because California is a comparative law state, each responsible party may be held liable for their part in causing an accident. Additionally, even if you found to be partially responsible in causing your own injuries, you or your family may still collect damages in a negligence or wrongful death action.
